Abstract
This research aims to assess the contribution of “Employee characteristics” towards the development of attributes for Learning Organization. The automobile industry in was selected for this study because it was a labor-intensive industry. Supported by the government policy to accelerate Thailand to be the hub of car production in the Southeast Asian region. The survey instrument labeled “LO Inventory and Change Readiness” was administered to the six car manufacturers, which together constitute approximately 89% of the total annual production output in Thailand. Results of the study showed that this industry has the attribute of “Employee characteristics” which is necessary for organizations to develop themselves onto learning organizations. Analysis of research results also led to the recommendation that organizations in this industry should concentrated more on recruitment as well as problem-solving, creativity, and training and development activities in order to become fully-fledged Learning Organizations.
