Abstract
The purposes of this research are to compare the application of the sufficiency economy philosophy to organizations, Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Adversity Quotient (AQ) between personnel who work in sufficiency economy organizations and organizations which are managed by other philosophies. Furthermore, this research will also study how factors such as EQ and AQ relate to the application of the suffciency economy philosophy to organizations. The samples used are 210 personnel who work in sufficiency economy organizations and 198 personnel who work in organizations which are managed by other philosophies. The questionnaires consisted of 4 parts which are Demographic information, Assessment of sufficiency economy philosophy applications, Measurement of Emotional Quotient and Measurement of Adversity Quotient (Reliabilities of these measurements in part 2, 3 and 4 are .813, .858 and .897, respectively). Statistical analysis methods used in this study include frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test analysis and Pearson’s product moment correlation. The results of statistical analysis are as follows:
1. Personnel who work in the sufficiency economy philosophy organizations apply the concept at individual and organizational levels more than personnel who work in non-sufficiency economy organizations.
2. Personnel who work in the sufficiency economy philosophy organizations apply the sufficiency economy philosophy to immunity factors and overall sufficiency economy factors more than personnel who work in non-sufficiency economy organizations. However, there were not significant differences between the two groups in the abstinence factor and rational factor.
3. Personnel who work in the sufficiency economy philosophy organizations had higher level of Emotional Quotient in Self-Awareness, Self-Regulation, Self-Motivation, Social Skills and overrall EQ dimensions than personnel who work in other organizations. On the other hand, there were not significant differences between the two groups in Empathy dimension.
4. Personnel who work in the sufficiency economy philosophy organizations had higher level of Adversity Quotient in Reach, Endurance and overall AQ dimensions than personnel who work in other organizations. On the other hand, there were not significant differences between the two groups in Control and Origin and Ownership dimensions.
5. There were positive relationships between overall sufficiency economy concept and overall EQ and AQ at .01 level of statistical significance (r=.556 and r=.551, respectively).
6. There were positive relationships between overall EQ and overall AQ (r=.610) at .01 level of statistical significance.
