Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study the characteristic factors of the school principals’ academic leadership. The study was done through documentary analysis, empirical data from 15 successful school principals’ indept interview, and through the questionaires concerning 3 aspects of academic leadership; personal characteristics, academic development and personnel development, rated by 328 school principals and teachers from 175 schools in 5 provinces of the upper North-Eastern region. The study used mixed method analysis of quantitative and qualitative analysis. Data was analyzed by exploratory factor analysis. The results indicated 5 factors of academic leadership of the school principals: (1) academic adevelopment focused on instruction (2) academic behavior oriented on task and relations (3) creativity and academic ability (4) teacher development concerned academic ability (5) promotion for the growth of teachers’ profession.
